Dr. H.N.Shivakumar is professor and head in the Department of Pharmaceutics at KLE University’s College of Pharmacy, Bengaluru. Dr Shivakumar earned his doctoral degree in pharmacy from Rajiv Gandhi University of Heath Sciences, Karnataka. He was a postdoctoral research fellow at the University of Mississippi, University, MS, USA. His postdoctoral research was focused at transdermal and transungual delivery of therapeutics. He was also involved in developing novel microparticulate drug delivery systems for oral lymphatic delivery. His research interests include Chronotherapeutic Drug Delivery, Transdermal and Trans-ungual Drug Delivery and Pharmaceutical development applying the principles of Quality by Design (QbD). He has more than 40 Research papers in peer-reviewed journals, four Book Chapters and four Indian patents to his credit. Dr.Shivakumar has been a Principal investigator in research grants funded by AICTE New Delhi, BRNS, BIRAC New Delhi and VGST, Karnataka. He was awarded the Best teacher’s award by KLE University in the year 2015. He was bestowed prestigious STARS award in Pharmaceutical Sciences for Teachers in the year 2016. He has been successful in materializing grants exceeding Rupees one crore from different government funding agencies. He has been a consultant for implementation of principles of QbD with different Pharmaceutical companies. He has mobilized funds exceeding Rupees ten lakhs through Industrial research and consultancy.
